Tourists Karnataka and Jharkhand fined for trespassing into MTR

Meanwhile, the forest patrol team nabbed one Tilakkumar hailing from Bengaluru for feeding monkeys in the woods.

Ooty: Tourists from Karnataka and Jharkhand have been fined for trespassing into the woods at Mudumalai Tiger Reserve (MTR) as well as for feeding monkeys in the woods.

Mr Arokiyasamy, the forest range officer at MTR, said the forest patrolling party during its daily routine found tourists from Karnataka and Jharkhand entering the deep woods in the Circle road limits in MTR.

They have been identified as Harshita Kumar and R. Dineshkumar from Bengaluru. They have been fined Rs 25,000 each for trespassing into the prohibited areas in the wooded zone.

Also, A.K. Agarwal from Ranchi in Jharkhand was found trying to
enter the prohibited zone. He has been fined Rs 4,000 for violation of the jungle norms.

Meanwhile, the forest patrol team nabbed one Tilakkumar hailing from Bengaluru for feeding monkeys in the woods.

He has been fined Rs 2,500 for the jungle offence. In total, Rs 56,500 has been collected from the offenders, he added.
