Women at IUML helm, Panakkad Hyderali Shihab Thangal reelected president

The committee picked up Vanitha League former state president Khamarunneesa Anwar, Noorbina Rasheed and Vanitha League state president K.P.

Kozhikode: The state committee of the Indian Union Muslim League on Sunday created history by electing three women to its state secretariat even as it unanimously elected Panakkad Hyderali Shihab Thangal as state president for the third consecutive time and K.P.A. Majeed the general secretary. The committee picked up Vanitha League former state president Khamarunneesa Anwar, former general secretary Noorbina Rasheed and Vanitha League state president K.P. Mariyumma to the 63-member top body.

It also elected former MLA U.C. Raman and Malappuram district panchayat president A.P. Unnikrishnan of the Dalit League to the secretariat. Cherkkalam Abdulla would be the new party treasurer. The meet elected P.K.K. Bava, M.C. Mayin Haji, C.T. Ahammedali, V.K. Abdul Khader Moulavi, M.I. Thangal, P.H. Abdusalam Haji, C. Moyinkutty, K. Kutti Ahammed Kutti, T.P.M. Sahir, C.P. Bava Haji, CAMA Kareem, K.E. Abdurahiman as vice-presidents and P.M.A. Salam, Abdurahiman Kallayi, T.M. Salim, Abid Hussain Thangal, K.M. Shaji, N. Shamsudheen, Abdurahiman Randathani, C.H. Rasheed, Beemapalli Rasheed, C.P. Cheriya Muhammed and P.M. Sadiqali secretaries.
