Hyderabad: Dr. P. Shashi Kumar owned a hospital, Sai Nikith Speciality Hospital and Laparoscopic Centre (named after his son), in Chaitanyapuri where Dr Uday Kumar Rachakonda and Dr Sai Kumar worked as anaesthetists earlier.

Sources said that Dr Shashi Kumar also had investments in Sigma Hospital at Dilsukhnagar. area in the city.

Some years ago Dr Sai Kumar and Dr Uday Kumar set up a company named Livewell Healthcare under which they established Laurel Hospital at Madhapur, in which Dr Shashi Kumar also invested. The doctors also had future plans of setting up a hospital in Africa.

In 2014, they had received funding from Exhilway Global Opportunities Private Equity Fund for Laurel Hospital, which was a Rs 25-crore project. The US-based fund provided Rs 12 crore and the rest was raised by Dr Uday Kumar and Dr Sai Kumar, sources said.

After Monday’s shooting incident, enforcement agencies have decided to probe into the Laurel hospital’s finances.

Earlier in 2014, Dr Sai Kumar and Dr Uday Kumar had told the media that their African hospital was being established in Conakry, the capital of Guinea.
The government of Guinea had offered the Jean Paul II Hospital, which had 250 beds.

“The focus of the Rs 30-crore venture would be to deliver multi-disciplinary tertiary level care of international standards along with high-end diagnostic facilities in all fields,” they had said in a press release some time ago.

Dr Shashi Kumar wanted to be a prominent part of all the ventures in the last three years. However, Dr Sai Kumar and Dr Uday Kumar apparently sidelined him.

Docs hold surgery for Uday
The bullet that hit Dr Uday Kumar below his left ear broke inside his oral cavity and some pellets also went into the stomach. On Tuesday morning, doctors at Apollo Hospitals conducted a three-hour surgery and removed the pellets.

A senior doctor said, “The pellets disintegrated inside. The major parts have been removed but some small particles have gone in the stomach. We have kept him on observation and will be monitoring the situation.”

On Monday, when Dr Kumar was admitted he had also vomited and doctors opined that small particles of pellets also went in that.

Allegations in suicide note to be investigated: Cops
Senior police officials from Cyberabad said that they would investigate into the allegation made by Dr P. Shashi Kumar in his suicide note. In the suicide note he also said that he would try to be a better husband and a father in his next life.

“He shot himself on the right side of the forehead. The bullet came out from the left side,” said inspector Srinivas, adding that the incident must have taken place between 9.30 and 10 pm.

The body was shifted to Osmania General Hospital morgue for post-mortem. Moinabad police has booked a case for suspicious death. Meanwhile, the Central Zone police recorded the statement of Dr Sai Kumar, who witnessed Dr Shashi Kumar firing at Dr Uday Kumar.

A judicial magistrate also recorded the “dying declaration” of Dr Uday Kumar who is the ICU. Talking to the media, Dr. Sai Kumar denied allegations made against him by Dr Shashi Kumar, in his suicide note, and his wife.
