Chandrababu Naidu asks Centre to make AP a model state

CM wants Blockchain Technology Institute in Vizag.

Visakhapatnam: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has urged the Union Government to consider making Andhra Pradesh a ‘model state’ and bring in some technology-related projects here before implementing them in other states. He was speaking at the two-day national conference on E Governance here which he inaugurated along with Union ministers M. Venkaiah Naidu and Jitender Singh on Monday. Around 1,000 delegates from states are taking part.

Mr Chandrababu Naidu urged the delegates to come up with new technologies and new devices for AP, as the state government would be computerising all departments soon. The Chief Minister said he was a strong believer in technology and “the sky is the limit for innovation.” Explaining how the state government is using technology to deliver services to citizens, Mr Chandrababu Naidu said he was able to monitor the progress of works on the prestigious Polvaram project with the help of drones and CCTV cameras on a real-time basis.

He also asked the Union Government to set up a National Blockchain Technology Institute in Visakhapatnam and a National Cyber Security Centre in Tirupati, and upgrade the National Institute of Digital Technology as a ‘centre of excellence’. Union minister for urban development and housing, Mr Venkaiah Naidu, said information technology is “making people happy” and “arre-sting corruption.”

“IT implementation wi-ll help solve many problems of the people. We have ample opportunities to grow. We have talented young people and India can grow by making use of the best technology. People need change. India has faced several problems in recent decades. There is more economic disparity and the government is striving to remove this and use information technology toos that will bring in more transparency and accountability,” he said.

Minister of state for science and technology Y. Sujana Chowdary, minister of state for ministry of development of north-eastern states Dr Jitendra Singh, and other ministers and state government officials attended the conference.
