Hyderabad: Son-in-law starving kids, alleges grandfather

Mr Narayan in his complaint to the SCPCR said that Chandrakanth was not taking good care of the children.

Hyderabad: The State Commission for Protection of Child Rights directed the city police to submit a report within three days on a complaint by 72 year old-Jagdish Narayan alleging that after his daughter’s death, his son-in-law was not providing food and education to his grandchildren.

Mr Narayan said that his daughter Kiran Bai who was married to Chandrakantha passed away in 2009 due to ill health, leaving behind two children, Nandini Yadav 13 and Hitesh Yadav 11. After her death, the children were staying with her father in Begum Bazar. Chandrakanth was running a business then; he closed it a few years ago.

Mr Narayan in his complaint to the SCPCR said that Chandrakanth was not taking good care of the children, not giving proper homely food and not sending them to school. He does not allow the children to meet friends and relatives, play or even move out of the house.

“Whenever he goes out of the home, he locks the house from outside leaving them inside and only after he comes back, he gives them food. I am very much worried about their health and future.” Mr Narayan said.

He requested the commission to take necessary steps to handover them to his custody so that he can take care of them and provide for their basic needs. The commission directed the city police to inquire into the matter and submit a report within three working days.
