Telangana: Official faces ire over land grab exposure

Rs 1,000cr worth state owned land encroached since 1996.

Hyderabad: K. Krishna, a surveyor from Medipally mandal in Medchal district, has alleged that a vast land worth Rs 1,000 crore has been grabbed by land sharks.

Speaking at a press conference along with Gollapally Dayanand, Schedule Castes Rights Protection (SCRP) leader, and Pendyala Naresh, leader of the Young Indian Servant Society, on Tuesday, Mr Krishna said that it was a major land scandal in the Peerzadiguda, Boduppal and Medipally localities.

“I have submitted a report to the government on the issue and I got a ‘gift’ called suspension. While the ‘asal setwar’ records in 1912, which are still available with the survey department, have marked many lands as poramboku category, they are marked as private in revenue records. The records available with the revenue department were guttered in a fire in 1996. Culprits have been modifying the records with the help of revenue staff. The revenue department is doling out the NOC reports without the knowledge of the survey department,” he said.

Mr Krishna said that he had submitted reports on the encroachment of government lands to higher officials but no action has been initiated against the culprits. “In the survey number 215, Boduppal is having about 36.23 acre of poramboku land and survey numbers 216 to 221 are having about 23.17 acres of sikham land. While the entire land in survey number 215 was occupied by private persons who constructed villas, in survey number 216, about 5 acres are encroached. I have submitted a report to thedistrict collector on January 11, 2017. No action has been taken so far,” he said. He alleged that the land related to Puli Cheruvu Kunta, the government land in Mediaplly and the land in Kancha Parva-thapur in Medipally mandal are occupied by private parties with the help of revenue staff.

Dayanand demanded the government to probe the scam. “It is a big scam and we will fight till the government land in Mediapally mandal is protected,” he said.

K. Dharma Reddy, joint collector of Medchal, said that Krishna’s mental condition was not stable. “If he has any complaint, he should inform us and we’ll take action. Due to his mental disorders, he was suspended for about five times and was transferred to Medchal last year on temporary basis.”
