Three women from TN awarded Nari Shakti Puraskar

Two other awardees from Tamil Nadu are Nanditha Shah and designer Kalyani Pramod.

Chennai: Among awardees of Nari Shakti Puraskar on International Women’s Day, is 97-year-old yoga enthusiast V. Nannamal, who has been practising yoga since she was seven-year-old.

The nonagerian and a follower of naturopathy has spent her life inspiring people to do yoga. President Pranab Mukherjee presented the awards to 31 women on Wednesday in New Delhi. Two other awardees from Tamil Nadu are Nanditha Shah and designer Kalyani Pramod.

Dr Nanditha Shah runs an organisation called Sanctuary for health and reconnection to animals and nature (Sharan). Sharan is devoted to spreading awareness about holistic health and an ecologically sustainable compassionate lifestyle.

Through workshops and retreats, she has promoted a natural, organic healthy non-violent diet. Kalyani Pramod works to promote the art of textiles and handloom through Manasthala Foundation, that showcased the work of weaver thus helping in uplifting lives.
