Vijayawada: Weaker section houses to get energy efficiency measures

The CM is going to inaugurate 4,800 houses in Nellore built under NTR scheme with a cost of Rs 356.13 crore on Feb. 9.

VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said that the Andhra Pradesh Government is providing permanent houses with energy efficiency measures to economically weaker sections in the State under the NTR Housing Scheme, which was unique amongst all kinds of housing programs in the country. The CM is going to inaugurate 4,800 houses in Nellore built under NTR scheme with a cost of Rs 356.13 crore on Feb. 9.

The CM said that the unique non-breakable poly carbonate diffuser and aluminium housing based LED tubelights would be provided in the affordable housing, which will make the houses more illuminated, along with BEE 5-star rated fans, LED bulbs, which will help to reduce electricity consumption and monthly electricity bill. This would be a great help to the poor, he added.

In a teleconference, the CM said that the State Government had created history in the country by inaugurating one lakh houses on the occasion of World Habitation Day in 2017 and again three lakh houses in a day in 2018. “This is our track record that cannot be broken by any Government in India. I am taking the responsibility of fulfilling the dreams of the poor having their own houses,” he said.

We are providing permanent houses on the lines of gated communities under NTR Nagar's housing scheme. Despite financial crisis, the AP is ahead in housing schemes with the aim that no eligible poor should be left without a permanent house", he said.

Mr Naidu added that implementing energy efficiency measures in weaker section housing was unique and also the first in India. The installation of 5-star rated energy efficient appliances is being done through the AP Power DISCOMs and the AP State Energy Efficiency Development Corporation (APSEEDCO). He also said the State has been in the forefront in implementing energy efficiency related programs like LED street lighting. Even the World Bank ranked the State No. 1 in Energy Efficiency Preparedness Index, he said.

The CM further said, "It is my dream of improving the standard of living of the poor and making the State a better place to live with the highest life expectancy. I have laid more focus on welfare which is vital to address poverty. The Government is taking care of every basic need of the poor, which is our top priority. There is no doubt that we are in the frontline in winning the trust of people.
