Banks have no serial holidays

Banks will function as usual on Monday though Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday are holidays.

Hyderabad: There are no serial holidays for banks this month and bankers have requested customers not to panic.

Secretary for Telangana state All India Bank Employees’ Association (AIBEA) Mr M.S. Kumar said that the holidays for 2016 were declared for all banks in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh in December 2015.

He said that in both states, two holidays were announced in connection with Dasara (Oct. 11) and Moharram (Oct. 12). “Banks will remain open on Monday (October 10). Second Saturday and Sunday are general holidays. There is no holiday for Mahanavami,” he said.

Mr Seetha Rambabu, president for AIBEA, said there were no holidays was declared for October 29 and October 31 in connection with Naraka Chaturdashi and Bali Padyami.

“Usually, we have a holiday on Diwali but this time the festival is falling on a Sunday. We have five festivals and general holidays on Sundays this year – May Day, Gandhi Jayanti, Durgastami, Diwali and Christmas,” he said.
