Soon, you can book a flight, Fly Bus tickets together

Luggage of passengers will be loaded into the bus by airline ground staff

Bengaluru: Soon, passengers can book both Fly Bus tickets and flight tickets together. The plan is being worked out by the Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL), operators of the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA).

This is being done to encourage passengers to use the KSRTC’s Fly Bus service. It has been observed that several passengers want to use the bus service to various destinations like Mysuru, Kundapur, Salem, Coimbatore, Tirupathi and other places, but find it difficult to know the bus timings and schedules.

To make it convenient for such passengers, the BIAL is working on the system to allow them to book the two tickets together.

A senior BIAL official said, “We are meeting KSRTC and airline officials and have explained the plan to them. Both are keen. This will add to the seamless travel policy which the passengers are experiencing at the airport already.”

Asked how the system will work, the official said, “For example, a passenger from Delhi, while booking the flight tickets, can also book the bus tickets and once he or she reaches KIA, they can directly board the bus without waiting to buy the bus ticket. They will also know the timings of the bus and if they have enough time, they can rest at the lounges or do shopping at the terminal and later board the bus.”

The official said, “The luggage of passengers will be directly loaded into the bus by the airline ground handling staff. There is no need for passengers to carry the luggage around. The system is being planned and we hope to introduce it at the earliest.” Meanwhile, KSRTC officials too have expressed interest and said that the system will encourage people to use the public transport.
