Bengaluru: As anxious people wait for the promised public consultation on the change in the alignment of the Cantonment Metro Station, Managing Director of the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL), Pradeep Singh Kharola, assured on Thursday that it would be held shortly.

" We have not fixed a date for the public presentation, but we will do it shortly. It is not just residents of one locality, but all stakeholders who will be consulted," he said, when contacted.

Civic activists and other concerned citizens have been waiting for the consultation ever since the August 23 meeting between Mr Kharola and Member of Parliament, Rajeev Chandrashekar on the issue. " We are still waiting for Metro officials to get in touch with us. They claim to have consulted 19 people for the Gottigere-Nagawara line in their Environment Impact Assessment document," said Mr Raj kumar, one of the citizens campaigning for a change in alignment of the Cantonment Metro station. " We have been conducting surveys of our own and have gained a lot of support for the original Detailed Project Report which integrates the Cantonment railway and Metro stations. The online petition was signed by 788 supporters in 48 hours and the physical surveys have received over 600 signatures," he added.
