Collector Neetu Prasad issues emergency alert in Karimnagar

KARIMNAGAR: Collector Neetu Prasad issued an emergency alert to public in view of heavy rains and strong winds reported in neighbouring Medak district and on the borders of Karimnagar district on Saturday evening.

Ms Neetu Prasad directed all field functionaries to be alert and ready for handling any emergency. She advised public not to stay in kuchcha and dilapidated houses. She asked people not to move in outdoors as thunderstorms were forecast.

Through sources it is learned that many parts of the district recorded a moderate to heavy rainfall coupled with strong gales. Consequently trees and electric poles were uprooted disrupting power and traffic in many towns and villages for several hours. People were forced to stay in darkness. Standing mango farms, paddy kept at market yards for sale has also been drenched in rain.
