Modi in town: Heavy deployment of traffic police

Hyderabad: Over 350 traffic constables from the three commissionerates were posted to facilitate a free traffic flow during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s launch of Vande Bharat Express at Secunderabad railway station and public meeting at parade grounds on Saturday.

Though the traffic restrictions were announced by the city police from 9 am till 2.30 pm, traffic police were seen at over 24 traffic congestion points and junctions in the vicinity of 4.7 km from Secunderabad railway station to Begumpet airport from 6 am itself.

There were heavy traffic jams at junctions on the roads connecting Begumpet from Marredpally. As the private vehicles were parked on the left side of the road in the bus bays, the huge private bus drivers complained that they had a problem taking a U-turn at Pillar No. 1228 close to YMCA junction towards JBS station.

There were several vehicles parked on the left side of the road at bus bay making it hard to take a U-turn. One B. Narsing Rao said, “We were helpless and the direct road connecting to JBS road from Garden circle was blocked due to which we had to take a U-turn from the metro pillar, said another driver Dilip Singh said.

“We had to take a U-turn because roads connecting Paradise junction were jammed,” he said..
