Note ban will win polls for BJP in 5 states: CT Ravi

Ravi claims it has also given the party a clear edge in the coming assembly elections in five states and it will win all of them.

Bengaluru: Noting that the BJP has won local elections in Chandigarh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Gujarat and West Bengal since the Centre announced demonetisation of high value currency notes to fight corruption, party state general secretary and core committee member, C.T. Ravi claims it has also given the party a clear edge in the coming assembly elections in five states and it will win all of them.

Acting on the advice of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the just concluded party national executive meeting, the state BJP has now swung into action to create awareness among the people about the effects of demonetisation in Karnataka where elections are due in about a year- and- a -half, he reveals.

“The party youth wing is already talking to the public about the importance of demonetisation and encouraging people to go in for cashless transactions,” Mr. Ravi told DC, adding, “Mere demonetisation will not serve the purpose of the Centre. To curb black money and corruption, people need to move to a digital economy and cashless transactions.”

Referring to the workers’ expansion programme launched by the party on the occasion of the birth centenary of its mentor, Deendayal Upadhyay, he said 192 people had come forward to work for a year for the BJP in Karnataka and in the country as a whole, 3000 had volunteered to participate in its organisational work.
