Signboards: Violators to face action

The labour department is likely to prosecute violators under the provisions of Rule 29 (13) of the TS Shops and Establishments Act.

Hyderabad: The Telangana State government will make it compulsory for commercial establishments and other public and private organisations to print the name of the establishment in Telugu on signboards.

The labour department had issued a GO to this effect, but the order was not implemented strictly due to political uncertainty and widespread agitations over the Telangana statehood issue.

“As of now, no decision has been taken on penalty to be levied on violators. The guidelines are being worked out. Clarity will come in a day or two and the GO will be released accordingly,” a source said.

The labour department is likely to prosecute violators under the provisions of Rule 29 (13) of the TS Shops and Establishments Act.

The renewal of registration certificates under the TS Shops and Establishments Act will also be kept on hold till the shop complies with the order.
