LB nagar residents hail flyovers, underpasses

Hyderabad: While the urban crowd in LB nagar constituency called for an improved storm water drain network, and a strengthened drainage network, the ones staying in slums are seeking 2BHK houses.

However, they were all delighted with the flyovers and underpasses that have bolstered road infrastructure in recent years.

“In Sai Nagar Colony, Champapet, houses get inundated during monsoon. The colony is adjacent to swanky commercial establishments. The flyover projects this area as an upscale locality,” said T. Raghu, a local resident.

Speaking about urban flooding, residents of Nagole said that Ayyappa colony and Mamatha nagar are the worst affected by floods. Those living in Gaddiannaram ward said that P&T colony people also suffer a lot during monsoon.

Incidentally, many houses in localities that are prone to inundation have built concrete barriers in front of their entrances to prevent water gushing into their homes.

Some opined that traffic congestion has drastically reduced. “The LB nagar junction is no longer chaotic. The flyovers and underpasses on the Uppal-LB nagar stretch and on the LB nagar-Karmanghat stretch have made commuting a pleasant experience,” said Ravie Kumar, a civil engineer.
