Ministers under fire for state of affairs in GGH

He expressed surprise at 21 doctors working on deputation in various parts of the state but collecting salaries from GGH, Nellore.

Nellore: Nellore city legislator Dr Anilkumar Yadav pulled up Urban Development Minister P. Narayana and Agriculture Minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy, both belonging to Nellore district for their silence on 31 posts of doctors lying vacant in the Dodla Subba Reddy Government General Hospital at Nellore.

The YSR Congress legislator elicited information on the state of affairs at the GGH attached to AC Subba Reddy Government Medical College from hospital superintendent Dr P. Radhakrishna Raju during a visit on Tuesday. He expressed surprise at 21 doctors working on deputation in various parts of the state but collecting salaries from GGH, Nellore.

He took objection to 5 doctors absenting from duty though their leaves were not approved since the last 2 years. He demanded to know the reasons for not approving the resignation of 5 doctors since a long time. He lamented that only 2 doctors were working in the paediatrics department as against the sanctioned strength of 12 medical officers. Similarly only 5 doctors were found working in the gynaecology department as against the sanctioned strength of 16.

Pointing to 3 sanctioned posts in the radiology department, he said that one doctor was on deputation at Chilakaluripeta while the other two are on unauthorised leave.
