Andhra Pradesh awaits nod from SC on GO-150 to conduct PG NEET counseling

The AP government had issued GO-150 reserving 30 per cent of the seats in clinical section and 50 per cent seats in non-clinical section

Vijayawada: Even as the Supreme Court allows start of the counseling process for admissions to NEET PG and UG courses for 2021-22 on the basis of the existing 27 per cent quota for OBCs and 10 per cent reservation for the EWS in all-India quota, AP is awaiting the outcome of its GO-150 in the SC, to go ahead with the counseling.

The AP government had issued GO-150 reserving 30 per cent of the seats in clinical section and 50 per cent seats in non-clinical section under service quota for students from AP. The GO was challenged by the Telangana government in the Supreme Court.

The NTR University of Health Sciences said that unless any verdict came on the GO-150, they would not be able to go ahead with the counseling process for admission into PG courses.

Meanwhile, university authorities are awaiting a direction from the Centre to go ahead with the conduct of NEET PG counseling, initially. They say it may take a month or so from the date of commencement of the counseling process to complete the exercise initially for the all-India quota.

They say that once the counseling for AIQ is over, they will take up the counseling to fill up local quota of seats.

The authorities say that once the NEET PG counseling process is over, they may start NEET UG counseling.

NTR university of health sciences registrar Dr K. Sankar said, “We are awaiting a direction from the Centre to go ahead with conduct of NEET PG counseling for the all- India quota, initially; and moreover, we have to get a direction from the apex court also on GO-150 to proceed with the counseling process.”
