Telangana govt to give Rs 1.5 crore to newly proposed districts

The CM said districts with smaller areas will help in implementing programmes aimed at improving the life of SC, ST, BC and poor people.

Hyderabad: Telangana government on Tuesday said it will sanction Rs 1.5 crore each to newly proposed districts for construction of collectorates and district police headquarters.

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao held a review meeting with senior officials and collectors of the existing districts, a release said.

"Collectors should personally supervise development and welfare activities of the government. I believe that districts with smaller areas will help in implementing various programmes aimed at improving the life of SC, ST, BC and poor people of the society," Rao was quoted as saying in the release.

"Rs 1 crore for collectorate and another Rs 50 lakh for the police headquarters will be given to each of the new districts," KCR added.

The government had earlier announced that it would carve out 17 new districts from the existing 10, making a total of 27.

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government had already issued the draft notification for the new districts, seeing suggestions and comments from the stakeholders.
