Heaps of mud lie for 3 months on Yapral road

The road was dug up to lay pipelines, but has not been restored yet.

Hyderabad: Close to three months after they were dumped on the Yapral road, heaps of mud continue to lie there. The mud occupies half the 30-feet road. The road was dug up to lay pipelines, but has not been restored yet.

There is a school at the end of the road, and students and their parents face a tough time especially during peak hours. Residents say the mud heaps are causing traffic congestion and dust emission.

The GHMC had dug the road to lay pipelines.

When contacted, GHMC executive engineer Anil Raj said, “We will look into the matter. We will send people and remove the mud.”

He said the work had slowed down because of a shortage of pipes.

“We will resume the work, but also ensure that the mud is cleared.”

Mr Arun Agarwal, who drops his daughter at the school, said, “As half the road is occupied by mud, it is difficult to drive with kids during peak hours. A single four-wheeler can block the entire road.”

Mr Venkata Ramana, a resident, said, “When it rains, the mud flows along with water. On a windy day, the dust makes it difficult to drive.”
