Groundwater level boosted in Hyderabad

The biggest beneficiary was Medak, where the groundwater levels were low.

Hyderabad: Heavy rain in September has helped recharge groundwater all over the state except Khammam. The average groundwater level in the state went up by 2.76 metres as compared to September last year — from 11.74 metres below ground level to 8.98 mbgl.

The biggest beneficiary was Medak, where the groundwater levels were low. The level zoomed by 8.92 metres in just one month, from 22.97 mbgl in August to 14.05 in September.

Ranga Reddy district, which houses the IT corridor, saw the groundwater level improve by 3.74 metres, the second best in the state. Water rose from 13.96 mbgl in August to 10.22 mbgl last month.

Khammam, where the rainfall was not heavy, saw a dip in the groundwater level, from 5.56 mbgl in September last year to 6.47 mbgl, a negative change of 0.91 metres.
