Chennai: Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker P. Dhanapal was on Tuesday admitted to a private hospital due to stress-related issues. Mr Dhanapal was also suffering from fever and indigestion, party and hospital sources said.
Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and his cabinet colleagues met Mr Dhanapal at the hospital and enquired about his health. Raising the issue in the Assembly, DMK MLAs sought a statement from the government on Speaker’s health.
“The Speaker is doing fine. He has been admitted to hospital due to stress-related issues. He will be back in the House on Wednesday,” Deputy Speaker Pollachi V Jayaraman told the Assembly.
