Furnish details about erection of digital banners: Madras HC to TN

The bench posted to December 5, further hearing of a Public Interest Litigation filed by social activist Traffic Ramaswamy.

Chennai: The Madras high court has directed the Chennai Corporation Commissioner and Commissioner of Police to produce all relevant records relating to the applications submitted by the government as well as by the political parties for erection of digital banners and the No Objection Certificates issued by the Traffic wing concerned.

A division bench comprising Justices M.Sathyanaryanan and P.Rajamanickam also directed the Government Pleader (in-charge) Jayaprakash Narayanan to ask the authorities to file a status report as to the erection of digital banners through the state on account of the MGR Centenary Celebrations, by December 5.

The bench said status report has to be filed as to the permission granted by the local body as well as by the police authorities for erection of digital banners in connection with MGR Centenary Celebrations.

The bench posted to December 5, further hearing of a Public Interest Litigation filed by social activist Traffic Ramaswamy, which sought a direction to the authorities to remove the alleged illegal digital banners.
