Chennai: Chennai metro water on Friday warned of imposing fine on tankers pilfering drinking water during their supply to residents and commercial firms.A press release from the Chennai metro water said that to prevent the pilferage and to ensure that the roads are safe for motorists, CMWSSB managing director V. Arun Roy has passed orders directing the field engineers to take action against tankers that pilfer water during their transit. The top official had also advised the engineers to hold meetings with drivers and owners of water tankers supplying drinking in greater Chennai. The metro water sources also said that to meet the growing demand of drinking water more tankers are to be roped in to reach tail end areas and congested pockets in Chennai.
