Polavaram Has Sufficient Funds: Minister Gajendra Shekhawat

Visakhapatnam: Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Shekhawat has said the Polavaram project does not face any fund crunch. “There are sufficient funds for the works.”

Shekhawat was the chief guest at the International Congress on Irrigation and Drainage held here on Thursday. He also visited the district BJP office and spoke to the media.

On Polavaram, the minister said, “AP has increased the estimated cost of the Polavaram project. The state government handed over the revised estimates to the Union Ministry of Hydropower on Oct 19. The Union Cabinet will take a decision on these. As of now, Polavaram has the required funds. The issue of rehabilitation is under the purview of the state government.”

“If the state government makes a plan in this regard, the monitoring shall be done by the Centre.”

The minister claimed that “many miracles were created during the over nine years of PM Modi’s leadership of the nation.

Later, Shekhawat was felicitated by members of the Rajasthan Council. MP Jiviyal Narasimha Rao, MLC PVN Madhav, state BJP spokesperson Sagi Vishwanath Raju and ‘Visakha BJP Parliament’ president Ravindra were present with the Union minister when he spoke to the media.
