Hyderabad: Motorists sweat it out at Kothaguda junction

Hyderabad: The Kothaguda junction-Hafizpet flyover road was widened about two years ago has brought no relief to motorists. Motorists complain that the road is still not wide enough, and alternative roads are blocked.

Consequently, vehicles take half-an-hour to one hour to cross the stretch, especially for IT professionals driving to their work from Miyapur, Chandanagar, Nizampet, Allwyn crossroads and Kondapur.

Mr Ramanjeet Singh who drives to Mindspace Junction from his house in Chandanagar, said the attempt to regulate traffic flow appears to have failed. He questioned the closure of Novotel road, which worked well as a short cut for motorists who did not wanted to go to Kondapur or take a left turn from Kothaguda.IT professional Deepak Sharma, a Nizampet resident, said the daily drive was a nightmare due to the crawling traffic from BHEL to Nizampet.

Madhaur inspector T. Narsing Rao blamed it on the increase in traffic. He said that in view of new malls opening in the area, the traffic police was planning to remove obstructions like electric poles, a few shops as well as a temple and mosque. “Until the GHMC approves of this plan it is difficult to remove these obstructions,” he said.
