Bengaluru: Expressing his displeasure over former minister V. Srinivas Prasad joining the BJP, Health and Family Welfare Minister Ramesh Kumar said that this was an unwarranted move by Mr Prasad at his age.
“Time will decide what happens during the by-election in Nanjangud. He is a very good friend and a nice person. But, will Nanjanagud benefit from this?'' he asked.
Admitting that Mr Prasad was a tall Dalit leader, he said that he should remember what he said while contesting as a rebel way back in 1973. He is joining hands with the forces advocating the age-old class division of society” he said.
“What were the principles he followed in his lifetime and what is the step he has taken today. Was resignation (from the Congress) at this old age warranted? Are his principles still alive or is winning the by-election his only aim? He should introspect on the path he has taken now,”' Mr Ramesh Kumar added.
Welcoming the SC verdict against seeking votes on the basis of caste and religion, he said it would help clean up the political system.
