Ruling party leaders trying to occupy Urdu varsity lands: TD

Kurnool: Muslim minority leaders from the Telugu Desam warned that they will not remain inert if there are any attempts to take over the lands of Kurnool Urdu University. They interacted with the media on Saturday and accused some leaders from the YSRC of trying to occupy the university lands, with TD leaders alleging a conspiracy to acquire the property.

Following the separation of the state in 2014, then chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu recognised the need for an Urdu University for the Muslims and minorities in the state. Accordingly, Kurnool district was chosen as the location for the Urdu University and approximately 144 acres of land were allotted for construction, with Rs. 20 crore sanctioned for the administrative block and classrooms.

However, with the change in government, all construction work came to a halt, and funds for the Urdu University contractor were not provided. The leaders alleged that ruling party leaders were attempting to take possession of the vacant land allocated for the Urdu University for their personal gain. Party leaders S Abdul Razack, S Abdul Hameed and others participated.
