Former CM and BJP state president B.S. Yeddyurappa has urged Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu to take up the railway overbridge work in Hassan town.
While submitting a memorandum to the railway minister, requesting him to accord priority to the overbridge work, Mr. Yeddyurappa said that completion of work will ease traffic congestion in the city.
In spite of repeated requests to the railways to take up overbridge work, the authorities have not shown interest to complete the project. The incomplete work has caused inconvenience to tourists who visit Belur, Halebeed and Shravanabelagola, Mr Yeddyurappa pointed out.
The Shivamogga MP requested the Union minister to sanction additional railway services on the Bengaluru-Shivamogga city route.
Mr Yeddyurappa also petitioned Union Steel Minister Choudhary Birender Singh, requesting him not to privatize Visvesvaraya Iron and Steel Factory in Bhadravati . He requested the minister to retain the factory as a public sector unit and requested him to review the functioning of the loss making factory. Privatization would harm the interest of employees, he stated.
