I was just using my powers on writing letter to CVC: Kiran Bedi to CM

It is about previous government and the present one.

Puducherry: A day after Chief Minister V Narayanasamy said that no authority in Puducherry has the right to approach the Centre for a probe bypassing the elected government, Lt Governor Kiran Bedi justified her act of writing a letter to Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) seeking enquiry in an incident of alleged corruption in the tourism department, and said that she was just using her quasi judicial powers .

The Chief Minister's statement came as the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC)sought an explanation from the governmenton on the alleged corruption in purchasing of luxury boats for the tourism department in the Union Territory in 2015

The Chief Minister said that CVC action came after receiving a letter written by ‘some authority’, from the territorial administration to CVC and made it clear that his government will not be in a position to provide information sought by CVC

Replying to this, the Lt Governor said that the enquiry from Lt Governor's office was triggered by a newspaper report and further enquiries revealed a fit case for CVC in this incident. “I as administrator have exercised my quasi judicial power under rule 44 of business rules. May see the papers. It is about previous govt and the present one. Common officer is the Chief Secretary. Unless he knew nothing about it. He now has to send a report to CVC”, said the Lt Governor.

The Lt Governor also accused the Chief Minister for taking the matter to media. It is the Chief Minister who brought this matter up in the media. Hence this rebuttal, she said.
