Krishnagiri: The ‘selfie craze’ has claimed the lives of two youths including the rescuer who met with a watery grave after saving one of the two victims in Krishnagiri district on Saturday.
Police said the incident occurred around 1 pm in the Kelavarapalli dam in Hosur of Krishnagiri where the drown victims were identified as Dhabendar and Kesavan.
While Dhabendar died after he slipped into the dam while taking a selfie, the second victim, Kesavan, was drowned to death in his attempt tosave Dhabendar.
On Saturday being a holiday for the duo, the friends went to Hosur Kelavarapalli dam and slipped into the waters while taking selfie at the place from where the surplus water is discharged into South Pennar river on the Tamil Nadu side.
