Maoists Abduct, Kill Tribal Cop in Chhattisgarh

Raipur: Suspected Maoists abducted and then killed a policeman in the village of Duvalipara under Gangalur police station limits in Bijapur district in Chhattisgarh, police said on Thursday.

The slain cop Budhram Awlam, posted as assistant constable in Toynar police station in the district, was on leave to visit his village of Jangla in the district.

He was abducted by suspected Maoists at Duvalipara when he was travelling in a motorcycle with one of his relatives on Wednesday, a senior police officer of Bastar said.

His body was found lying on the river bank in Duvalipara, police said.

“The modus operandi of abduction and then killing of the jawan suggested that Maoists were involved in the incident”, the police officer said.
