Telangana to Hyderabad HC: No forcible acquisition of lands

The government filed the affidavit following directions by a division bench on Tuesday.

Hyderabad: The Telangana government on Thursday filed an affidavit before the Hyderabad High Court stating that there was no force or coercion against landowners in any form in the process of procuring lands under the GO 123 for the Mallannasagar irrigation project in Medak district.

The government filed the affidavit following directions by a division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Dilip B. Bhosale and Justice P. Naveen Rao on Tuesday.

The bench had asked the TS A-G to place his statement in the form of an affidavit while hearing a petition by S. Upender Reddy and 14 others seeking suspension of the GO Nos. 75, 123, 190 and 214 issued in 2015.

The petitioners alleged that the policy was in violation of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013.
