Principal district judge Bazeer Ahmed and chief judicial magistrate Saravanan on Thursday conducted the probe with magistrate Mahendraboopathy over the observations he made while acquitting the granite barons from the case, claimed court sources.

Mahendraboopathy in his judgement observed that even after the then district collector Anshul Mishra was transferred from Madurai, the petition was filed on
behalf of the collector seeking to take action against the granite barons for allegedly stocking granite stones in patta land in violation of Tamil Nadu Prevention of Illegal Mining and Transportation and Storage of Minerals and Minerals Dealers Rule 2011.

The Madurai Bench of Madras high court had recommended contempt action against the magistrate for disobeying its order in the illegal mining cases recently.
