Girl attacked with blade by her husband's elder brother over honour in Saifabad

Hyderabad: An 18-year-old girl was attacked with a blade by her husband’s elder brother for marrying a Muslim in Saifabad early on Sunday. She suffered minor injuries on her neck.

The girl, Nagamani, who asks for alms in Karmanghat, came in contact with Suleman, 19, an autorickshaw driver from Hafeez Baba Nagar, Kanchanbagh.

“The girl claims that they got married during Ramzan but there is no proof,” said Madannapet sub inspector V. Prasad.

On Sunday morning, the couple went to have tea in Saidabad.

When Mr Suleman left for his house and Ms Nagamani was walking back, his elder brother Salman, along with another person, approached Nagamani on a bike and threatened her for marrying his brother and attacked her with a blade and fled,” he said.

She approached the Madannapet police and booked a case under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of IPC against the duo.

The Madannapet police has shifted the case to Saidabad PS, and investigation in process.
