Hyderabad: The decomposed body of a 38-year-old missing woman, who was allegedly raped and murdered, was recovered from an under-construction building in Financial District at Nanakramguda on Tuesday.
The woman, after a heated argument with her husband’s second wife at their shared residence in Keshavnagar Waddar Basti, went missing, said Gachibowli inspector James Babu. The family filed a missing persons’ case on August 27, following which the police found her body at the construction site at 7.20 am on Tuesday.
The crane operator at the construction site spotted the body and informed the police, following which the police, a Clues team and sniffer dogs went to the scene. The woman’s minor sons were brought to the spot to identify the body, the police said.
According to the initial probe, the woman was kidnapped from a surrounding area, raped and murdered at the construction site. The unidentified assailants smashed her head in with a boulder, they said.
The police said that the victim’s husband was in Cherlapally jail and that she lived with her sons and her husband’s second wife, following their marriage around seven months ago.
The police are reported to have detained six persons in connection with the crime.
After collecting the blood-stained boulder as evidence from the crime scene, the police sent the woman’s body for an autopsy to the Osmania General Hospital. They are also ascertaining the time of the murder and other details from the FSL (Forensic Science Laboratory).
Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan expressed her anguish over the murder and alleged rape at Nanakramguda, through a media statement.
The Governor sought a comprehensive report about the incident from the Chief Secretary, the Director General of Police and the Cyberabad police commissioner within 48 hours, a Raj Bhavan communique said
The TS Commission for Women also took suo motu cognisance of the incident, with chairperson Sunitha Lakshmareddy calling for the immediate arrest of the accused. She ordered the officials concerned to conduct a comprehensive investigation and submit a report on the incident to the commission.
