2 inter-state fraudsters caught by Telangana CID for fingerprint-based online fraud

Hyderabad: The CID arrested Ranjit Sah of Bihar and Safat Alam from Bengaluru for siphoning off Rs 24,000 from the bank account of a retired government employees by fraudulently using the Aadhaar-enabled Payment System (AePS).

CID said the accused collected sale deeds and other documents particularly from the registration, revenue and other department servers of various states including Aadhaar numbers and names on bank accounts. Using fingerprints in the documents, the accused developed silicon prints.

In connivance with the customer service points (CSPs), they obtained fabricated documents using which they withdrew money from bank accounts.
