3 Booked in Mangaluru for Moral Policing Attack on Couple

MANGALURU: Three individuals, including a minor, have been booked for their alleged involvement in a moral policing incident on Friday. The incident unfolded when a 20-year-old nursing student, accompanied by a male friend enrolled in a nursing college, visited Kadri Park on Friday morning. According to the police, three individuals approached them, interrogating the couple about their identities and the purpose of their visit. They physically attacked the male companion, subjected both individuals to verbal abuse, and took their photographs and videos. Acting on the filed complaint, Mangalore East Police Station has registered a case under IPC Sections 341 (wrongful restraint), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of the peace), 509 (word, gesture, or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), 354(b) (assault or use of criminal force to a woman with intent to disrobe), 354(d) (stalking) r/w 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) against three individuals - Nithin (18), Harsha (18), and one more person aged 17 years.
