Man Arrested for Allegedly Murdering Mother upon Return from Dubai

HYDERABAD: Basheerabad police on Saturday arrested a man who had returned from Dubai for allegedly murdering his mother who had informed some moneylenders that he was back home.

Police identified the victim as M. Anjamma, 63, who had gone missing on October 25. Her younger son M. Srinivas had filed a missing complaint.

The murder came to light on Friday after locals found the body of an unidentified woman in a lake in Kashipur village of Vikarabad district. After making inquiries, police took Anjamma’s elder son M. Venkatesh, 34, for questioning.

He confessed that he had borrowed Rs 4 lakh from two financiers and went to Dubai without informing anyone. He returned in the middle of October, and his mother informed the financiers. The financiers began demanding their money back with interest, and he had killed her.
