Kozhikode police foil kids' bid to sell car emblems

School kids steal emblems from parked luxury cars for pocket money

Kozhikode: Hoping to pocket Rs 30,000 to Rs 60,000, a few school students here were caught for stealing emblems of parked luxury cars. According to the police, these school students collected dozens of such emblems from different brands of luxury cars. But before they could dispose of them of and make money out of them, the police caught them after complaints registered by luxury car users here. According to Nadakkavu CI TK Ashraf, these students were duped by their other friends saying these emblems could fetch good money, and that tempted them to steal them.

The police have recovered emblems of luxury cars of different companies, including Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Skoda and Jaguar. “These students used to wait near shopping malls and other parking areas, especially near Kozhikode town, medical college, Chevayur and Nadakkavu, where expensive cars are usually parked. After the owner moves out of the car, they wait for some time and remove the emblems using a screwdriver,” he added.
