Get over it': Peter told son to not fuss' over Sheena's disappearance

The call records put spotlight on Peter Mukerjea, who appears to pacify' his son, after Sheena's disappearance.

Mumbai: Peter Mukerjea, co-accused in the Sheena Bora murder case might soon find himself in the dock, as the CBI on Friday clarified to a special court in Mumbai that it has taken cognisance of the new tape records between the media baron and his son Rahul.

The tapes, that have been accessed by certain media outlets, reveal a calm and placid Peter, attempting to ‘pacify’ his son Rahul after Sheena’s sudden ‘disappearance’, urging Rahul to forget Sheena and move on.

Reports indicated that many parts of the conversation appear conspicuous, and that there was a conscious attempt from Peter’s side to cover up the murder.

“You asked me a question standing outside Marlow I think it was. You said what would happen, how would you feel…what would happen if Sheena just disappeared one day? Do you remember?” Rahul asks his father in one conversation.

In another record, Rahul is heard lamenting to his father that he was really worried of her safety. “I don’t need to know where …I need to know if she is okay…,” to which Peter is heard assuring that he understands Rahul, and that she was entirely safe. He also tells Rahul, “you need to get over it.”

The tapes, 20 in all, were recorded by Rahul in the days following Sheena’s death.

Taking cognisance of the tapes, the CBI, in a statement, said, "All the tapes being played on certain channels on the Sheena Bora murder case have been taken into account during the CBI investigation. These form an integral part of the evidence against Peter Mukherjee and others which have already been submitted in the court. The matter is sub-judice."

Indrani, Khanna and Shyamvar Rai had allegedly strangled Sheena Bora, Peter's daughter from an earlier relationship, inside a car in April 2012.

The trio was arrested in August last year, while Peter was arrested in November.

Sheena's body was found in a forest in Raigad. The crime, which came to light in August, last year, is allegedly linked to certain financial dealings.
