Muthoottu manager flees with Rs 1.5 crore

BENGALURU: The Channapatana Town police on Monday registered a case of theft against a 28-year-old manager of Muthoottu Mini Financiers after he allegedly made away with Rs 4 lakh cash and 5.5 kg gold from the office.

The accused manager, Naveen, had joined work only around four months ago and was working with two other employees including a cashier, U.V. Xavier.

Preliminary investigations revealed that a person who opened the office every day was going on leave and allegedly handed over the office keys to Naveen on Sunday night. On Monday, Naveen went to the office around 7.30 am and escaped with booty worth Rs 1.5 crore, including cash and gold jewellery.

A security guard deputed at the office saw Naveen escaping with a bag and informed Xavier, who rushed to the spot and checked the CCTV footage. The officials from the finance company then approached the town police, who registered a case of theft.
