Driver steals SUV as the passenger steps out at ORR

The incident took place around 4 am, away from Shameerpet police limits.

Hyderabad: A driver who was driving a monastery head in an SUV sped away with the vehicle when the latter got off the car to answer nature’s call near the Outer Ring Road at Shameerpet. Following a complaint from the priest, the police tracked the car using GPS to Patancheru. However, the driver escaped with the cash.

According to Shameerpet police, Vishwanath Swami, the head of Vishwanatha monastery was travelling in the SUV from Keesara towards Shameerpet. The car belonged to a follower of the priest, who had arranged for the driver for him.

During the early hours on Monday when the SUV reached the area bordering Keesara and Shameerpet, Vishwanath Swami asked the driver to pull over as he had to answer nature’s call.

Meanwhile, the driver took the opportunity and sped away with the vehicle. The incident took place around 4 am, away from Shameerpet police limits. The man then approached the police and lodged a complaint. Based on the GPS ins-talled in the SUV, the police found that the vehicle was moving towards Patancheru and alerted their counterparts.

However, anticipating that he could get caught, the driver abandoned the vehicle on the outskirts of Patancheru and absconded with Rs 40,000 cash and debit cards belonging to Vishwanath Swami.
