Bengaluru: Sexual assault accused Manjunath worked for 15 years in different schools

Parents of abused children want school managements from other schools where he served earlier to report if he committed any crime earlier.

Bengaluru: Manjunath, the accused in the Maratahalli preschool sexual assault incident, has worked for over 15 years in different schools and preschools of the area.

“He was working in this school for the last six years. He was earlier working in different schools in the area. The authorities have to investigate his past criminal record too,” said a parent, who wished to remain anonymous.

Parents of the abused children want school managements, staff members and teachers from other schools where he served earlier to report to the police if he committed any crime earlier.

Parents worried over delay in trial
The parents whose children were assaulted by Manjunath want the city police to ensure a flexible inquiry, statement recording and deposing procedure, besides early completion of the trial.

A parent told this newspaper that his child is just three years old and may not able to recall the incident after a year or two when the trial begins.

Parents want transparency
Following the Marathahalli preschool sexual assault incident, several parents in the city want schools to share the CCTV footage with them to ensure that their children are safe inside the campus.

The parents said that though they suspect foul play on the school campus, they cannot confirm such incidents because of lack of evidence. The police said that the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) should come out with a policy on sharing of the CCTV footage.
