Carpenter crushed by speeding truck in Bengaluru

Chikkajala police have launched a hunt to nab the fleeing driver.

BENGALURU: A 24-year-old carpenter, who was riding a two-wheeler, was crushed to death by a speeding truck in Chikkajala traffic police limits on Sunday night.

The deceased, Manikantachar (24), was a resident of Vinayakanagar in Bagalur. He was returning home from his village on his Pulsar motorbike when the driver of the speeding truck lost control over the wheels and mowed him down around 7.15 pm at Ganganagar Cross on MVIT Road. Manikantachar, who was flung into the air, crashed to the ground before coming under the wheels of the lorry.

The lorry driver abandoned the vehicle and fled from the spot, the police said. Chikkajala police have launched a hunt to nab the fleeing driver.

Mechanic dies in accident,donates eyes
A 21-year-old mechanic came under the wheels of a KSRTC bus on the KR Puram hanging bridge on Monday morning.

The deceased, Subhash, a resident of K.R. Puram, was on his way to work when the accident took place around 8.20 am.

A few BBMP labourers were busy cleaning a stretch on the bridge at the time of accident. Subhash, who was said to be riding at a top speed, suddenly applied brakes, lost control and fell in front of the KSRTC bus which was right behind him, the police said. Subhash was rushed to Bowring Hospital, where he died later on Monday. He has donated his eyes.
