Cops yet to trace accused in Nirmal Krishna chit fund scam

The investigation in the case is progressing in a systematic manner.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Thousands of investors of Nirmal Krishna Nidhi Limited are upset over the delay on the part of the local police in tracing the key accused Nirmalan K. alias Nirmal Krishnan. While a section of investors demands a CBI probe, the police sources maintain that the probe was progressing in a systematic manner with a target of documenting all assets and benamni investments of the accused within three months.

According to police sources, though the efforts of joint team of Tamil Nadu and Kerala police to trace Nirmalan were yet to become fruitful, the investigation in the case is progressing in a systematic manner. "A preliminary assessment of the police was that the accused owned about 200 acres of land, a major chunk of which was in Tamilnadu. Identifying the assets owned by the accused, tracing their benami transactions and alleged investments abroad are the steps being taken by the investigation team. The aim is to properly document all his assets and liabilities, and produce it before court in three months," said the police sources.
