Hyderabad: Family slits groom's throat, crushes his head front of bride

Warangal: In a horrifying case of honour killing, parents of a teenaged bride thrashed the man she was marrying after forcing him out of the wedding ceremony, slit his throat and crushed his head with a boulder in Thimmapur.

Mahankali Anil, 22, was brutally killed in front of Hastapuram Mounika, 18, at a temple in Warangal district by girl’s family after the couple had eloped to marry.

According to a report, the couple had been dating for a year, but the girl’s parents tried to keep them apart.

They attempted to elope earlier, which failed as her parents told the police that she was a minor. When she turned 18, she was sent away to study.

But the couple’s romance restarted when she returned home.

When her parents came to know that the two were about to get married, they rushed to the temple to confront the groom.

Police commissioner VB Kamalasan Reddy said. “A number of suspects have been arrested.”
