Bengaluru: Auto driver hacks wife, surrenders to police

On Friday morning, labourers who came to work noticed the body and alerted the police.

Bengaluru: Three people, including a woman, were murdered in separate incidents in the city on Thursday night.

In the Kamakshipalya police limits, an autorickshaw driver murdered his wife and surrendered before the police. Puneeth Kumar, 29, a resident of Sunkadakatte, and Pallavi, 24, got married a few years ago. Due to differences, they had applied for divorce. They had also attended a hearing in the case before a family court on Thursday. While Puneet was having his dinner in the night, an argument ensued between the couple.

An enraged Puneet hacked Pallavi to death with a machete. Later, he went to the police station carrying the blood-soaked machete and surrendered before the police, who visited the spot and shifted her body for the postmortem, the police said.

In the Upparpet police limits, Ramesh, 28, a rag-picker and a resident of Srirampura, was allegedly stabbed to death by his friends. Ramesh was reportedly talking to a girl near a hotel around 3 pm on Thursday. His friend, Prashanth, who noticed it, allegedly picked up a fight with Ramesh saying that he was in love with that girl.

After a heated argument, Prakash left and returned along with Seena after a few minutes. The duo allegedly stabbed Ramesh and escaped. Ramesh, who was undergoing treatment at a hospital, succumbed after a few hours. The accused duo was arrested by the police within a few hours.

In Rajarajeshwarinagar police limits, Rajashekhar, 38, a rag-picker was found murdered in an under-construction building on Channasandra Main Road on Thursday night. the police said that the assailants stabbed him and smashed his head with a boulder before fleeing.

On Friday morning, labourers who came to work noticed the body and alerted the police. It is suspected that old rivalry or financial dispute could be the reason behind the murder. The police have launched a manhunt to nab the assailants.
