Telangana: Supari to kill gynaecologist fails, two arrested

Suspect, doctor were estranged business partners.

Hyderabad: The Rachakonda police nabbed two persons on Saturday who had taken a supari to kill a city-based gynaecologist.

The police said that one of the suspects was a business partner of Dr Bommineni Durga Rani. The suspect was arrested after his medical degree was found fake. Since then, he bore a grudge against the doctor and was planning to kill her. The prime suspect is still at large.

According to the police, Dr Bommineni Durga Rani, a gynaecologist from Hayathnagar, runs two hospitals in Karmanghat and Peddapally. A few years ago, she started a business concern with Burra Ramesh Goud. Due to internal issues, Ramesh quit. Later, they lodged cases against each other.

Ramesh was arrested by the Saroornagar police for fake medical certificate. Since then, he was waiting for an opportunity to kill Durga Rani.

As per the plan, he contacted Jampal Ramesh, who promised to arrange killers for a supari. Jampal and Burra went to Warangal and roped in Mohammed Rafi, who agreed to kill the doctor for Rs 10 lakh. Ramesh paid him Rs 5 lakh as advance in three installments.

“After failing continuously, Rafi changed his mind and approached the doctor and her husband and informed them that Ramesh Goud had given him supari to kill her,” said Mr M. Venkateswar Rao, DCP, LB Nagar.

Fearing threat from Ramesh, Durga Rani lodged a complaint and the police arrested Jampal Ramesh and Rafi on Saturday and seized a pen knife and Rs 45,000 from them. A manhunt is on to nab Burra Ramesh and his other associate, Tirupathi.
