Honour killinig: Kausalya records statement in Palladam court

The Magistrate recorded Kausalya's statement in a locked room.

Coimbatore: Kausalya, wife of the Dalit student Shankar slain at Udumalpet last week in a horrific ‘honour killing’ case in broad daylight, appeared before the Palladam Magistrate near here on Monday to record a statement in the case.

Kausalya, undergoing treatment at the Coimbatore Government hospital for the injuries she received during the attack, was taken in an ambulance van to the Palladam court amid tight police protection, where she appeared before the judicial magistrate G. Krishnan.

The crowd gathered in the court was asked to vacate the premises, even as Palladam DSP S. Manoharan oversaw the security arrangements.

The Magistrate recorded Kausalya’s statement in a locked room. The beleaguered girl gave a detailed statement before the Judicial officer, which went on for nearly two-and-a-half hours from 1.30 pm. Later, Kausalya returned to Coimbatore GH in the same ambulance vehicle.
